<3 people helping other people <3
We all had such a fun time last night helping Amy Wong raise funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation/Team Chu. Amy organized a fund raising event at Palettes that was so well attended it was not only Sold Out but we had to set up extra seats for a couple of folks who forgot to register. Amy held a raffle to raise even more $$ to add the the funds Palettes donated and a great time was had by all. Lots of laughter and good music too!
Here’s a little bit more about Amy and how you can help by donating to the MJFF:
As part of The Michael J. Fox Foundation's "Team Chu-Pounding the Pavement for Parkinson's" team, I will be participating in the 44th TCS New York City Marathon on November 2, 2014 and raising funds for individuals and families affected by Parkinson's disease. I will be running my 6th marathon and 3rd NYC marathon in honor of my mother, Wai King Wong, who passed away on August 13, 2007 after a long battle with PD, a few months before my eldest child was born.
This year's race will be extra special to me as I am so honored to be a part of Team Chu. I met Joyce Chu in 2011, when we both ran the NYC marathon for Team Fox. Her strength & determination to not let her PD diagnosis change the quality of her life as well as her kindness in waiting for me to cross the finish line (almost 2 hours later than she did) are just some of the qualities that connected me to her right away. Plus the fact that she is a U. of Michigan alum like my hubby sealed the deal.
Raising awareness and funds to provides resources and services that The Michael J. Fox Foundation supports is a way that I can help to end this horrible disease. I hope you will support Team Chu and me, as we run a very special 2014 NYC marathon together.
Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson's disease - a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinson's disease.
